This past weekend I hiked areas of Dorset and the Jurassic Coast of England. My friends and I spent an overnight in the sweetest peanut of a B&B—the owner spoiled us with a hearty English breakfast, a hot shower, a warm bed, clean single rooms with privacy galore, and gorgeous seaside views. The Mayfair is located on the main promenade of Weymouth, a seaside village in Dorset, England, and if you’re passing through, don’t miss out on staying at this B&B.
Perhaps the countless hostels and sharing shower space as I travel through Europe made The Mayfair that much nicer, but I doubt it. The blue themed nautical décor added to the atmosphere, and as you step outside off The Mayfair’s front step, you’re literally 50 feet from the beach. Turn right and head into Weymouth town center—it only takes about five minutes to walk.
It was the first B&B experience I’ve had in three years so a served breakfast was a real treat. Among a wide selection of cereals there was fruit, yogurt, and a choice of cooked-to-order eggs with fresh toast or croissants, and tea or coffee. The owner is extremely pleasant and friendly—he also seemed to know the area quite well so if you have questions about what to see or do in Dorset he’d be a good reference point. Don’t miss this B&B—it’s very traditional English but well kept, modern and clean. To learn more about The Mayfair or to book rooms click here.
