8 Best Irish Images From a Point-And-Shoot

During the time I spent in Ireland when I was 10 and 17, I compiled hundreds of pictures of lush green coasts. I lived in a small white cottage with a red door, a five minute walk from the west cost in County Mayo. Ireland is nicknamed the Emerald Isle, and while it has a rep for chilly, rainy weather, the climate actually grew on me the more time I spent there. Now it’s hard for me to go a year or two without going back. I was in Ireland in January, and hopefully I’ll make it back for a spring break trip in March 2011.

Rural Ireland is, in my opinion, one of the most gorgeous places in the world. Ireland’s jagged coastline and cliffs offer plunging views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea. Ireland is the third largest island in Europe and the twentieth largest island in the world. Here are a few of my rural Ireland coastline and countryside photo favorites I’ve taken over the years. These are all taken with an Olympus digital point-and-shoot, but the Irish country side is so naturally beautiful, that even the crummiest of cameras with no photo editing can capture the country’s beauty.
