5 Packing Tips for Your Lanzarote Holiday

You’ve planned to jet off and enjoy time with your loved ones on a Lanzarote holiday, a popular tropical island getaway in the Spanish Canary chain. You’ll have to pack super light if you’re traveling with your brood and limited by luggage restrictions. Here’s how to go on vacation with only the basics—with these simple rules you won’t have to sit on your suitcase to shut it, or pay for excess baggage at check in. All you have to worry about is getting to the airport on time.

Leave warm clothes at home. Make a list of absolute necessities and don’t bother packing too much because Lanzarote is the land of sun and hot temperatures. Leave chunky knits and warm layers at home. Think: wardrobe for a week in the sunshine.

Limit your shoes. Pack a basic sandal, athletic shoe, and dress pump. With these three pairs you’ll be covered for every occasion from a dinner out, to a game of beach volleyball. You won’t need more than this.

Roll your clothes up. You can stuff smaller items in shoes and down the sides of your suitcase. Things like socks and undergarments can be rolled easily and won’t need ironing when you arrive.

Carry copies of important documents. Cover all your bases and photocopy important documents. They don’t take up much room and if you were to lose your passport or have anything stolen, at least you have copies to use to organize replacements.

Keep oversized toiletries in your home bathroom. You won’t need a whole bottle of shampoo or a whole tube of toothpaste on your vacation. Buy travel-sized products typically less than 100 ml or 3.0 fluid ounces. Or use little bottles (you can find in supermarkets) and fill them with your products.
